Advocacy

The Association believes in the importance of advocacy at both an individual, community, and societal level.

  • We believe in consumer involvement and support the people we serve advocating on their own behalf.
  • We also believe that, whenever possible, family members become the individual’s natural and best advocates
  • We support families to advocate for their family member whenever feasible.
  • We believe that consumers of our services should be encouraged to provide peer advocacy.
  • The Association supports and encourages staff to advocate on behalf of the people and the communities that we serve.
  • We believe that healthy, supportive communities are key to creating healthy citizens and, as such, we actively participates both individual employees and as an agency in community building.
